I think
that this news might be a little bit late, but Celine did a wonderful
job at the 2002 Latin Billboard Music Awards. She picked up a special
honor award for "My Heart Will Go On" as the first song
ever to top Billboard's Hot Latin Tracks. She performed "Aun
Existe Amor" and received a standing ovation. I'm so proud
of Celine! If you want to see a videoclip of her accepting the award

Beirut Song Fest Surprise: Shakira,
Celine Dion
The organizers of the Beirut Song Festival have revealed that
the two international song stars, Shakira and Celine Dion may
be the honoring guests of the 5th session to be held next July
in Lebanon, according to the local daily al Anwar. One of the
festival organizers told the Lebanese daily that the contacts
with the Lebanese-Colombian singer Shakira and Canadian singer
Celine Dion, have been positive and indicated the possibility
for their approval to sing at the event. A number of Arab song
stars is scheduled to participate in the festival, including,
Nabil Sheil, Rashed al Majed (Kuwait), Tunisian singer Thekra,
Samira Said (Morocco), Hani Shaker (Egypt), Ragheb Alamah, Assi
al Hellani from Lebanon. The event which lasts for four weeks,
will be held at Oscar Beach Hotel in Kaslik/north of Beirut.
The new-opened theater is large enough for 2500 persons –

Dion to plug Quebec as hot tourist spot in U.S. TV ads
MONTREAL
(CP) - Celine Dion, one of the world's most recognizable Quebecers,
will plug her home province in U.S. TV ads as part of a $15
million government tourism campaign.
Tourism Minister Richard Legendre, who made the announcement
Monday, said the number of visitors to Quebec increased in
2001 despite the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United
States.
Legendre said TV commercials featuring Dion would begin to
air this week on several U.S. TV stations.
The superstar singer's catch phrase will be: You'll see why
I love to come home.
"Celine
Dion ... is probably the best known Quebecer in the United
States," Legendre said at a news conference.
"To
see her invite people to come to Quebec in a TV commercial
is totally worthwhile and I think it will work."
The province did not divulge Dion's promotional fee but said
it would be donated to charity.
Dion's face will also grace 600,000 newspaper inserts, which
will appear in several major newspapers in Toronto, New York,
Boston and Philadelphia.
The tourism drive will feature popular metropolitan destinations
such as Montreal and Quebec City, as well as the rural splendour
of Quebec's outlying regions.
The number of visitors to Quebec increased slightly in 2001
to 21.4 million from 20.9 million in 2000. Tourists spent
nearly $7.2 billion in the province last year, an increase
from $7 billion the previous year.
The number of international visitors to Canada's largest province
fell by 3.7 per cent in 2001 as the number of air travellers
plummeted following the terrorist attacks.
But Legendre said the tourism numbers for Quebec were solid
during the first eight months of 2001.
"Overall
it's a good result in a difficult year," said Legendre,
who noted the numbers are expected to increase once again

Black will join Celine
Dion, Jessica
Simpson, and Lonestar on the deck of America's
newest aircraft carrier for a show to kick off National Military
Appreciation Month on May 2 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The
special is part of a spectacular kick-off to A National Salute
To The U.S. Military, a multi-faceted program honoring men
and women in the United States Armed Forces.
Black
is no stranger to playing for the men and women of the U.S.
military, as he performed for U.S. troops stationed in Somalia
late last year. In between performances, Black got to meet and
hang out with some of the soldiers. "You can't help but stand
in awe," he told LAUNCH. "You're standing there talking to a
guy who's as nice and friendly and warm and smiling as anybody
you'd ever meet, but, when it hits the fan, you know, he's going
right on in. I just have a tremendous amount of respect and
admiration for those people."
A highlight of the singer's trip to Somalia was coming face
to face with some of the military's star power. "Meeting all
the generals who'd been through all the wars since Vietnam.
. .You know, these guys that are relatively young but they've
seen it. Their attitudes are just, 'We're here, we're peacekeepers
and we're gonna go around and make these idiots stop fighting
each other.'"
The show, held aboard the USS Harry S. Truman, will
air as a CBS TV special on May 25 at 9 p.m. ET. In addition
to musical acts, the special will include stand-up comedy
and incredible footage from aboard the USS Harry S. Truman
and from Fleet Week and the Air & Sea Show.
